Alumni Association Scholarships
The Next Generation of Lions
You are a lion for life and we are excited to welcome your family members into the pride! The Alumni Association is proud to offer a number of scholarship opportunities for students who are the children and/or grandchildren of alumni. The following scholarships are awarded to deserving students each year.
Helping the Next Generation of Lions
The applicant must meet all criteria in order to be eligible for the Alumni Legacy Endowment Scholarship:
- Have a parent or grandparent who graduated from the university. Please provide name and date of graduation (maiden name when applicable). Additional consideration will be given to those with a sibling(s) who graduated from the university;
- Be admitted to East Texas A&M University;
- Register for 12 hours as an undergraduate or a minimum of 6 hours as a graduate student;
- Have a combined SAT score (Math and Critical Reading scores only) of 980 or better or a composite ACT score of 21 or better as an undergraduate; or a 3.0 GPA; or be in the top 30% of your class.
- Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Submit an Official Transcript
- Complete for consistency application and essay, “Describing why you wish to obtain a college education at East Texas A&M University and why you are deserving of a scholarship.”
*A minimum of $1,000 ($500 per semester for one year)

How to Apply
Please submit an essay “Describing why you wish to obtain a college education at East Texas A&M University and why you are deserving of a scholarship.”
Please provide the name and date of graduation (maiden name when applicable) of the parent/grandparent that graduated from East Texas A&M.
The applicant must meet all criteria in order to be eligible for the Commerce Area Alumni Scholarship Endowment:
- Be a relative of an alumnus.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Must attend East Texas A&M University & be in good standing with the university.
- May be either an undergraduate or graduate student, yet recognize that they are eligible to receive the scholarship for only two semesters.
- Student must write a one-page essay on “Why you choose to attend East Texas A&M and your plans for the future.”
*Scholarship shall be awarded for one year only, in the amount of $1,000 ($500 per fall and spring semester).

How to Apply
Please submit a one page essay on why you chose to attend East Texas A&M and your plans for the future.
Please provide the name of the parent/grandparent, aunt/uncle, or sister/brother that graduated from East Texas A&M. Please include maiden name and year they graduated.
The applicant must meet all criteria in order to be eligible for the Distinguished Alumni Endowment Scholarship:
- Have a parent or grandparent who graduated from the university. Please provide name and date of graduation (maiden name when applicable). Additional consideration will be given to those with a sibling(s) who graduated from the university;
- Must be fully admitted and seeking a Master's or Doctoral degree at East Texas A&M;
- Must register for a minimum of 6 graduate hours;
- Submit an essay discussing “How is your field or major in helping you prepare for your future career?”
- Submit an Official Transcript
* A minimum of $1,000 ($500 per semester for one year).

How to Apply
Please submit an essay on “What do you see is the advantage of you having an advanced degree?”
Please provide the name and date of graduation (maiden name when applicable) of the parent/grandparent that graduated from East Texas A&M.
The applicant must meet all criteria in order to be eligible for the Fifty-Year Endowment Scholarship:
- Have a parent or grandparent who graduated from the university. Please provide name and date of graduation (maiden name when applicable). Additional consideration will be given to those with a sibling(s) who graduated from the university;
- Currently have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.8
- Have an undergraduate classification;
- Be registered for 12 hours as an undergraduate;
- Submit an Official Transcript
- Submit an essay discussing “How is your field or major helping you prepare for your future career?”
* A minimum of $1,000 ($500 per semester for one year).

The applicant must meet all criteria in order to be eligible for the Gold Blazer Endowment Scholarship:
- Have a parent or grandparent who graduated from the university; provide name and date of graduation (maiden name when applicable): additional consideration will be given to those with a sibling(s) who graduated from the university;
- Currently, have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0;
- Completion of a minimum of 48 undergraduate hours or 12 graduate hours at East Texas A&M University
- Be registered for 12 hours as an undergraduate or a minimum of 6 hours as a graduate student for the scholarship award year;
- Submit an Official Transcript
- Demonstrate service through participation in university, school, community, and/or church, activities or organizations.
- Demonstrate leadership in or contribution to East Texas A&M extracurricular or volunteer activities, research, internship(s), work or other experiences.
- Submit an essay “Describing an event in which you took a leadership role and what you learned about yourself”.
* A minimum of $1,000 ($500 per semester for one year).
